Coach Flake’s STEM/Tools for Learning classes visited Beaverfork Lake Park at Conway to learn about the Springfield Bridge. The classes have been learning about bridge construction, constraints, and materials. They recently constructed their own bridges using a variety of materials during a STEM challenge. This quick field trip was a great opportunity for the students to connect what they had been learning in their STEM class to an important piece of Arkansas history.
Mrs. Bilderback is the Faulkner County Historical Society President and she gave the students a presentation on the history of the bridge. The students learned about the original construction, how old the bridge is and the process in relocating the bridge to Beavorfork Lake.
The students had a great time touring the bridges and examining specific parts of the bridge that they had studied in class. Thanks Coach Flake & Mrs. Bilderback for IGNITING learning at GMS!
