February 28th was Digital Learning Day at GMS! Digital learning is any instructional practice that effectively uses technology to strengthen a student’s learning experience. The emphasis for Digital Learning Day is on high-quality instruction and providing students access to challenging content via technology. By embracing digital learning GMS teachers are improving their own effectiveness while increasing equity and access to educational opportunities or students. GMS joined schools all across the nation to highlight effective teaching practices that are enabled by technology.
Students across GMS used technology for a variety of projects and learning activities. In social studies students completed geography projects on countries like Bolivia using iPads, iMovie, and green screens. In science classrooms a digital learning tool called Symbaloo was used to organize articles for research. In the GMS STEM course students used Tinkercad to develop and print 3D creations! In GMS EAST students used a variety of programs including CodeHS, Tinkercad, Sketch UP, and Canva to prepare for the upcoming EAST conference. GMS is proud of our teachers and students for embracing technology to increase learning!
