GMS students celebrated Read Across America today by participating in a live Skype with Cressida Cowell, author of How to Train Your Dragon. Read Across America is the largest celebration of reading and its purpose is to motivate children to read. What a better way to celebrate than listening to an author share her story with every GMS student?! Cressida Cowell’s books have been produced into movies that our students love, so they thought it was awesome to be able to hear her tell the history of how she came up with “How to Train a Dragon”. The students even learned how to draw one of the famous dragons “Toothless” from her book. Every GMS student across the campus watched the live Skype while enjoying cookies donated by Tetra Technologies, a local business in Greenbrier. Each student also received a bookmark for our Read Across America celebration from Mrs. Kimble. It was a great day at GMS to learn about the importance of writing, illustrating and most of all READING!
